Dukan Diet - Bread Recipe

During the consolidation phase of the Dukan diet it it nice to know that you are allowed to eat two slices of bread a day.

You will probably enjoy it more if you make it yourself, so here are a few tips for making some really tasty bread.

The whole-wheat bread you bake at home will surpass in flavor, fragrance and nutritive value any bread you can buy. The old excuse that it takes too long to bake your own bread is refuted in the recipes you will find here and your own satisfaction in knowing that you are giving your family the best bread that can be made is more than worth the little time it takes.

You will discover that it's fun to knead and shape the dough, and that it somehow satisfies the elemental desire of woman to prepare fine food for her family. True, bread-making is an art and you may have to experiment to find the exact technique suited to you. But it's worth it, just as it is to take any basic recipe and, by imagination and experiment, make it your own.

The best bread is that made with wheat you grind yourself. However, there are sources of excellent freshly stone-ground flour in most neighborhoods or from reputable mail-order and internet based firms.

It is best to heat milk gently rather than scald it, in order to promote enzymatic action and prevent the destruction of phosphatase in both the grain and the milk.

Allow the sponge or first mixture to rise slowly so that the bran may soften and more gluten may develop. For the rising, cover with a clean linen cloth.

BASIC WHOLE WHEAT BREAD RECIPE

Dissolve 2 yeast cakes or 2 pkgs. dry yeast in 1/3 c. lukewarm water. In a 4-qt. kettle bring to blood heat 2 c. milk. Add 3 tbsp. oil or other fat, 3 tbsp. honey or unsulphured molasses or a mixture of both. Stir in dissolved yeast. Add 3 c. whole wheat flour and beat well for 5 minutes.

Cover tightly and set in warm place, away from draught, until it rises to twice its bulk. Turn out on floured board, add 2 tsp. salt and knead about 10 minutes, until satiny, adding more flour if necessary. Dough should be soft and pliable but not stiff. Divide in half and shape into 2 loaves. Place in greased bread pans and put in warm place until loaves double in size.

Bake in hot oven, 400°, for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and continue baking for 40 minutes. Brush loaves with soft butter and turn out on rack to cool.

Variations
1. Wheat germ may be substituted for 1 c. flour.
2. Soy flour may be substituted for 2 c. flour.
3. Unbleached white flour may be substituted for 3 c. flour.
4. Cracked wheat may be substituted for 1 c. flour.
5. Sesame seeds may be used to cover the dough when shaping for pans.
Brush loaves with egg white so seeds will stick.
6. Raisins and nuts may be added if a sweet bread is desired.

Dukan Diet - Lose Weight Fast And Keep It Off

The Dukan diet has helped millions to lose weight fast and just as important to keep it off.

Dr Pierre Dukan designed this diet with a lot of skill and knowledge of dieter`s problems.

He knew that the first few days are probably the most important for someone on a diet.

He therefore made sure that people who started on his diet would lose a lot of weight quickly during the first phase of the diet - the attack phase.

There are four phases of this diet,as you progress you will feel quite satisfied at completing each phase - this is another booster of confidence for you.

The Attack Phase

During this phase you just eat lean meat - proteins, food such as chicken, lean beef, and fish such as tuna.

You will probably lose quite a few pounds in weight here, anything up to ten pounds, depending on your weight at the start.

The Cruise Phase

During this phase you still eat proteins every day, but you are allowed to eat vegetables every other day. You are also encouraged to walk for up to thirty minutes a day.

You should remain on this phase until you reach your desired weight.

The Consolidation Phase

By now you have reached your target weight.

During this phase you will try to not put the weight you have lost back on.

You can achieve this by eating as much protein and as many vegetables as you like.

Plus as an added bonus you can have one piece of fruit and two slices of wholemeal bread a day

You are also permitted to have a celebration meal once per week, this can be anything but try not to over do it as you do not want to put all that weight back on.

The Stabilization Phase

Congratulations you have reached the stabilization phase, the final stage of the diet.

You have reached your target weight.

You should now eat proten once every week, however for the duration of the week you can choose to eat what you like.

Becuase of the way the diet has been designed there is a good chance that you will have succeeded in losing a lot of weight and if you have that is great news.

You will find it good to be in contact with other people on this diet and I think it is a good idea to join a Dukan diet forum so that you can gain from other people`s experiences and feel part of a Dukan diet community.

Dukan Diet - Great For Weight Loss

There is no doubt that the Dukan diet has helped millions of people to lose weight.

This has a lot to do with the fact that you can eat proteins such as chicken and tuna, even beef.

One of the main foods you need to cut out are carbohydrates, such as bread, but this is only during the early stages such as the first stage - the attack phase.

Proteins such as the ones mentioned above will keep you feeling full and give you all the energy you need, which is a lot better than some of the calorie counting diets where you can feel hungry most of the time.

There are four phases to this diet and during each one you will gain some satisfaction as you make progress and lose weight.

The Attack Phase - is the first phase which can last up to ten days and you will lose quite a few pounds to encourage you.

The Cruise Phase - you stay on this as long as you like, until you reach your desired weight.

The Consolidation phase - where you can eat foods you like every other day.

The Stabalisation phase - where you stabalise your weight and reintroduce some of the above phases to achieve this.
